Revolution Equine Nutrition is a culmination of several long-standing personal and professional aspirations.
My interest in all things equine grew into a career path as I obtained my undergraduate degree in cell biology with a minor in equine science from the University of Minnesota. Specifically, from my two equine-based research projects while I received my BS degree. The first was looking into Degenerative Orthopedic Diseases (DOD) in newborn foals including the vascular systems underlying the pathology. The second project looked at the genetic basis of Equine Recurrent Uveitis (“Moonblindness”) in Appaloosas. I then went on to study the molecular mechanisms of bone development including how hormones and vitamins affect bone development. I received my Masters of Science in this area of study in 2010.
My research background and professional understanding of peer-reviewed journals enables me to understand the latest supplement and feed research from a unique and highly qualified perspective. It is my passion to understand the active ingredients in different feeding options in order to help you know exactly what to feed your horse.
Since the area of equine nutrition is growing and expanding quickly, I regularly take continuing education classes to stay current on new diet recommendations. Some areas that I particularly enjoy studying are bone, cartilage, joint nutrition & supplements.
Throughout my career I have always owned horses and maintained an active training program. I understand the stress and emotion of having a problem with your horse. In fact, my horse had Fecal Water Syndrome (FWS) for 12 years every winter. It was my own horse that brought me into this field and I can now say that through a diet change he is now free of FWS.
One of the most rewarding parts of the work I do is seeing long-standing problems start to resolve. It is very satisfying to provide owners with a clear nutrition strategy and provide support during the entire process. Thank you to all of my clients for the opportunity to support you and your horse.
